About Vulpilux
The name joins the Latin for fox, vulpes, and light, lux: quick, and clear-sighted. That's how we like to work.
Who we are
Vulpilux is an engineering-led technology and operations company based in Utah. We plan and run events, and we build and look after technology for the businesses we work with.
We're deliberately small. A core team plans and leads the work, and for each job we bring in people from our network of trusted specialists: engineers, event professionals, photographers and more. Everyone works from the same plan in the same tools, built by us, so a team can come together quickly and finish cleanly.
How we work
AI-native from the start.
We use AI throughout our own operations to cut busywork and keep everyone informed, which is how a small team moves fast. People make the decisions, and people do the work you see.
Private by default.
Everything we build collects only what it needs. No third-party analytics, no trackers, no ads, and we never sell your data. Our privacy policy says exactly what that means.
Honest.
No dark patterns, no upsells you didn't ask for, and a written statement of work before anything is billed.
The founder
Lucent Fox
Founder and Managing Member
Lucent is a software architect who has worked with computers professionally since 1998: databases, web and mobile applications, eCommerce and payment systems, and the architecture that ties them together. Lucent founded Vulpilux and leads Technology Services.
The first program came at eight, on an Atari 800XL. The first job came at eighteen, on the phones in tech support at a call-centre business that spanned several states. Between calls, Lucent built the tools the floor needed, and management moved Lucent into the company's IT development team. The work from those years included call and time tracking from agents' phone logins, payroll automation for the whole floor, knowledge bases, and a chat system for staff and customers. One job read data off an old IVR system's serial port to drive live reader boards it was never built to drive.
Next came five years at the Utah State Office of Education, as database architect on the state's student information system. Lucent led the rewrite of the federal extract that school funding depended on, cutting its run time for the largest districts from up to six hours to under twenty minutes, and cut a quarterly report from 24 hours to 10 minutes. Since then, as a software architect at ThoughtLab, Davinci Virtual Office Solutions and PDS, and independently, Lucent has designed and built eCommerce platforms, recurring-payment systems and data pipelines.
The method hasn't changed since the call centre: learn how the operation really runs, then build what it needs, quickly and properly. Vulpilux is built on that idea. Broken computers still have a habit of working once Lucent touches them, which is less magic than it looks: it comes from knowing exactly what you're doing, and being precise about it.
